The Crimson Bear presenting you with this letter is a member of the Juneau Douglas High School Football Team.

Every year, we raise money to support our program, which is one of the most unique in the nation.

The Crimson Bear Football Team looks forward to another successful season. Players are working hard during the off-season on their academic skills, and are dedicated to maintaining and improving their physical agility, weight lifting, and speed training skills. We are working even harder to improve on last year’s state semi-final appearance―the seventh in the last eight years!

This year’s team has another tough schedule lined up for 2011, opening with its first Varsity game against the Thunder Mountain Falcons. The Bears will host the Notre Dame Jugglers from Vancouver, Canada, which is followed by the traditionally rugged Railbelt Conference competition.

The Crimson Bears lead the State of Alaska in game attendance averaging nearly 2,000 spectators per game. The program book will be available for all Varsity and Junior Varsity home games, as well as lower division games, including the home playoff game. We plan to have them available for our home opener against Thunder Mountain on August 13, 2011.

In order to make the 2011 season outstanding, we ask you for your financial support. Our team is fully self-supporting and must raise funds for travel, equipment, media, and all other activities it takes to operate a highly successful high school program.

The Juneau Douglas High School Football Team runs a philosophy-based football program. We provide the opportunity for student-athletes to improve their self-esteem, self-motivation, work ethics, confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, goal setting skills, and interpersonal skills. Our players must remain drug, alcohol, and tobacco free, and they must meet academic, attendance, and discipline standards established by JDHS and the Alaska Student Activities Association in order to participate.
